We are receiving the award for a water rescue performed on September 11, 2004 from Black Creek in Churchville below the dam during flooding from heavy and steady rains. Our many hours of training enabled us to successfully save four victims from the fast and churning waters. Three were from a capsized canoe, and the other was a citizen who attempted to rescue the three and became a victim himself.
The award will be presented to us at the WNY Annual Convention on July 29, 2005, being held in St. Johnsburg located in Niagara County.
All the members of Churchville feel very honored to be recognized by our peers in the Fire Service from Western New York.
