The Churchville Volunteer Fire Department drills on a continuing basis to hone our skills.  Most training takes place on
Monday nights from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  Firefighters are mainly comprised of 2 groups interior and exterior.

Interior firefighters are certified to wear SCBA's (self contained breathing apparatus) this allows them to enter environments
that the normal person would not survive in.  Interior firefighters have to attend a 12 week firefighter 1 course at the Monroe
County Fire Academy on Scottsville road.  After completing this course interior firefighters are required to train every 3
months on the SCBA's, receive annual fit testing, and receive a physical examination by a doctor.

Exterior firefighters are not certified to wear SCBA's however fill a vital role by performing every duty that doesn't require an
SCBA.

Both interior and exterior firefighters have to complete 8 hours of OSHA, Blood Boorne Pathogens, Hazrodous Material
trainng per year.  The fire department also provides a water rescue team and requires firefighters to intially train once on ice
and once in the water to become certified then train once annual to stay qualified.  The firefighters are also required to
maintain their "points" in the "points system" by earning credit for calls and drill activities.  This ensures that the members are
trained and the calls are covered.

Live Burn Training July 2006
July 15, 2006 Churchville Fire participated in a  live burn exercise with Bergen in their district.  For the first 2 hours of the drill members
of the County Fire Bureau lit small, controlled fires in select areas of the house in order for firefighters to gain worthwhile interior
structure firefighting experience in controlled realistic conditions.  At approximately 11:00am members of the team lit the entire structure
in order for the attending members to observe the process of a structure fire including smoke color and quantity, structural weak points
and their warning signs, and to demonstrate just how quickly a relatively small interior fire can engulf an entire structure.
Churchville fire in conjunction with Leroy, Bergen and Town of Batavia fire departments conducted live burn training in Leroy.
